Port Vale and Tranmere Rovers shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Vale Park as League Two's second round of fixtures were played out. The result leaves Port Vale 20th with a point from two games (W0 D1 L1); Tranmere climb to 4th on four points (W1 D1 L0).
Port Vale's captain George Byers put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot in the 17th minute, but was forced off with an injury just nine minutes later, replaced by Rhys Walters. Tranmere levelled through Tom Ince in the 71st minute.
Five cautions were shown: Port Vale's Kyle Dempsey (4th minute) and Ben Garrity (85th) were both booked, while Tranmere picked up three: Nathan Smith (67th), Joe Ironside (78th) and Sam Finley (99th). Port Vale made five substitutions in all; Tranmere used four, the first also enforced by injury when Jordan Turnbull replaced Harrison Male in the 52nd minute.
