Peterborough United beat Championship side Watford 5-1 at Vicarage Road in the League Cup, the League One club getting the better of opposition a division above them.
Watford were behind inside ten minutes when defender James Clarridge turned the ball into his own net (9'). Harry Leonard doubled Peterborough's lead on 22 minutes. Three second-half goals in 13 minutes then put the tie beyond reach: Leonard's second (50'), Bolu Shofowoke (54') and Harrison Jones (63') made it 5-0. Mamadou Doumbia pulled one back for Watford on 72 minutes, the final goal of the match.
Watford held 63% of possession and had 16 attempts on goal to Peterborough's 17, but registered only five shots on target compared with the visitors' nine.
The only card of the match was a yellow for Peterborough defender George Nevett in the 82nd minute. Peterborough advance in the League Cup; Watford's involvement in this season's competition is over.
