Pete Wild started life as Tranmere boss with a goalless draw at former club Fleetwood, a strange homecoming for a manager who had been sacked by the Lancashire club earlier this season.
Wild was appointed by Rovers this week to help them avoid the drop to non-league football, and his first afternoon in the dugout produced a game devoid of real quality but not of chances.
An Unlikely Homecoming
The subplot belonged entirely to Wild. An Oldham fan, he had been sitting in the away end at Prenton Park just last weekend, only to find himself this week installed as Tranmere's manager for the visit to the club that had dismissed him.
