Palace profit from Lech's errors as Europa League debut ends in a 4-0 win

· Match Report

Crystal Palace began their first Europa League campaign with a 4-0 win over Lech Poznań at Selhurst Park on Thursday night, a result that eased some of the pressure on Pierre Sage after a troubled opening to the season.

Yéremy Pino scored in the ninth minute, Chris Richards added a second in the 26th and Jørgen Strand Larsen converted a penalty in the 33rd. Eddie Nketiah made it four in the 88th. Lech finished with ten men after Radoslaw Murawski was shown a second yellow card in the 86th minute.

Sage had kept the same eleven that lost 3-2 at home to Ipswich on Saturday, and the new manager was pleased to share the occasion with the club's fans. "I saw a lot of videos about the fans, especially during the journey in the Conference League last year," he said after the match. "They were incredible and I want to share the same thing with them this year."
