Newport County climbed off the foot of League Two as they ended a nine-game winless run with a hard-earned 1-0 victory at Accrington Stanley. An unfortunate own goal settled a scrappy contest shortly before half-time.
Bobby Kamwa burst into the penalty area and saw his effort from the right ricochet into the net off Isaac Sinclair in the six-yard box, handing the Exiles their first win since 9 August.
Exiles in Control Before the Break
Newport had been the more menacing side throughout the first half, and Accrington did not manage a shot on target before the interval. Kamwa drew an early save from Stanley goalkeeper Ollie Wright in the seventh minute with a low strike.
