Oh Hyeon-gyu haunts Ibrox as 10-man Rangers fall to Genk

— Match Report

Former Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu returned to Glasgow to sink 10-man Rangers, scoring the only goal as Genk claimed an incident-packed 1-0 Europa League win at Ibrox. Russell Martin's side were second-best for long spells against a Belgian outfit who missed a host of chances either side of Mohamed Diomande's first-half red card.

The South Korea international had a first-half penalty saved by Jack Butland, struck the winner after 55 minutes and later had a tap-in chalked off for offside. Rangers, who failed to muster a shot on target after the 34th minute, were booed off as the pressure on under-fire head coach Martin intensified.

Bright start undone by Heynen heroics

Ibrox briefly stirred when John Souttar met an angled header that looked destined for the net, only for Genk captain Bryan Heynen to produce an incredible overhead-kick clearance off the line. It was a moment that hinted at a different evening for the home side.
