Norwich 3-4 Bolton: Ito's substitute strike settles a seven-goal thriller at Carrow Road

· Match Report

Substitute Atsuki Ito scored the decisive goal in the 71st minute as Bolton Wanderers won 4-3 at Norwich City in the Championship on 20 September. Norwich led twice and Bolton pulled them back both times, before Bolton went ahead just after the interval and held on after Norwich equalised again. It was Bolton's first win at Carrow Road in 26 years.

Norwich had lost 4-3 at Middlesbrough the previous Saturday and have now conceded eight goals in their last two league games. Defender Ruairi McConville, who scored his first goal for the club, called the defending embarrassing afterwards.

Toure Strikes, Gale Answers Quickly

Norwich scored with their first attack. Andre Brooks slipped Mohamed Toure through and the striker fired in from the edge of the area in the fourth minute. Thierry Gale levelled in the seventh, cutting in from the left to beat Vladan Kovacevic at his near post. Toure, Norwich's top scorer, was substituted in the 14th minute with a suspected dislocated shoulder, and Jovon Makama came on.
