Norrington-Davies own goal sends Fleetwood into Carabao Cup last 16 against Arsenal

· Match Report

Fleetwood Town reached the last 16 of the Carabao Cup for the first time, beating Championship side Sheffield United 1-0 at Highbury Stadium through a Rhys Norrington-Davies own goal in the 56th minute.

The League Two club, now unbeaten in nine games in all competitions, will host Arsenal in the next round. Chris Wilder's visitors made seven changes from their previous league match, never found an equaliser, and heard their travelling fans voice their displeasure at the final whistle.

Fleetwood Take Control

United began brightly, Ollie Arblaster seeing a goalbound shot blocked after only 36 seconds, but Fleetwood soon took over. Mark Helm forced a save from goalkeeper Cooper, and Ched Evans, a former United player, headed the follow-up narrowly wide. Cooper was the busier keeper, stopping efforts from Lewis McCann and Crispin McLean, and a dipping Helm shot from 18 yards grazed the top of the net before the interval.
