Sam Nombe's first-half double saw Rotherham begin their League One campaign with a 2-1 win over Port Vale, the hosts ultimately surviving a frantic finish to take the points.
Two goals up and a man to the good by half-time, Rotherham looked in control, but a transformed Port Vale hauled themselves back into the contest and pushed hard for an equaliser that never quite arrived.
Nombe Seizes Early Control
Nombe put his side in early control when he got on the end of Joe Rafferty's brilliant cross to sweep home from 12 yards in the 13th minute.
