Cardiff City got back to winning ways in League One as Perry Ng's first-half goal and a late Yousef Salech penalty earned them a 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic. The Bluebirds were rarely troubled as they edged back up into fourth, while Wigan fell to 14th after their first home league defeat of the season.
The two sides arrived in contrasting form. Wigan had been dumped out of the EFL Cup by Wycombe Wanderers in midweek and beaten 4-1 at Bolton last weekend, while Cardiff toppled top-flight Burnley as they bounced back from their first league loss of the season against Bradford City.
Ng Sets the Bluebirds on Their Way
It was Cardiff who settled quicker and threatened early when Ryan Wintle's shot from distance was well saved by Sam Tickle, although it was not all one-way traffic with Fraser Murray's header giving the visitors a nervous moment.
