Newport County and Tranmere Rovers shared the points in a 2-2 draw at Rodney Parade, in League Two's third round of fixtures. Shaquille Gwengwe put the hosts ahead in the 10th minute, but Tranmere hit back through Zane Okoro in the 70th and Dylan Jones in the 74th to lead 2-1. Gwengwe completed his brace in the 89th minute to rescue a point for Newport.
Tranmere had the better of possession, 59% to Newport's 41%, and edged shots on target two to one, though the sides were level on shots overall at six apiece; Tranmere also held the edge in corners, four to three. One yellow card was shown to each side.
The point lifts Tranmere to 8th in the early table on five points from three games (one win, two draws); Newport sit 11th on four points, having taken one win, one draw and one defeat from their opening three fixtures.
