Mykhailo Mudryk can resume competitive football immediately after the Football Association (FA) announced a resolution of his doping case. The Chelsea winger accepted anti-doping rule breaches and a suspension covering the period he had already served.
The case followed an October 2024 test taken while Mudryk was representing Ukraine, which detected meldonium. He was charged in June 2025 and received a four-year suspension in January 2026, before taking his challenge to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The FA said revised World Anti-Doping Agency testing requirements meant the same concentration would no longer trigger a report or an anti-doping rule violation if the sample were collected today. Those changes do not apply retrospectively; the agency agreed to the resolution of the proceedings.
Mudryk maintained that he had never deliberately taken a banned substance, despite accepting the charged violations in the agreement. He said: "As I have always maintained from the outset of this case, I have never knowingly or intentionally taken any banned substance."
