Munetsi and Arokodare fire Wolves past Everton and into Carabao Cup fourth round

— Match Report

Wolves shrugged off their wretched Premier League form to beat Everton 2-0 at Molineux on Tuesday and book a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. Goals in each half from Marshall Munetsi and Tolu Arokodare gave Vitor Pereira's strugglers a much-needed lift after the worst league start in their history.

It was a second cup win over Premier League opposition this season for Wolves, following their third-round-eliminating victory at West Ham, while Everton's hopes of ending a 30-year wait for major silverware were extinguished before the end of September.

Munetsi pounces on the rebound

The breakthrough came midway through the first half. Jhon Arias unleashed a wicked left-footed volley that Mark Travers could only parry, and Munetsi was on hand to slot in the rebound and settle Molineux's nerves.
