Mullin penalty gives Rotherham first away win at Northampton

· Match Report

Paul Mullin's penalty in the 72nd minute gave Rotherham United a 1-0 win at Northampton Town in League Two on Saturday, the Millers' first victory on the road this season.

Northampton were the better side before the break but could not get past Julian Eyestone, and the game turned after the interval. Mullin's spot-kick was the only goal of a tight afternoon, and Harvey Saunders missed Northampton's best chance to level in added time.

The result left Northampton beaten in consecutive league games, having lost 2-0 at Shrewsbury Town a week earlier following a 1-0 home win over Newport County. Rotherham had drawn 3-3 with Salford City on 12 September, and lost 1-0 at Bristol Rovers the Saturday before that.
