Kieffer Moore's brave header and Lewis O'Brien's stoppage-time finish earned Wrexham a 2-0 victory at Millwall and their first Championship win of the season, despite long spells of home pressure. The Red Dragons struck against the run of play midway through the second half and then again deep into added time, punishing a Millwall side that dominated territory but failed to find a cutting edge.
It was Wrexham's first win in English football's second tier since they beat Rotherham on the final day of the 1981-82 campaign, a 43-year wait finally ended in south London. Phil Parkinson's team climbed to 15th in the table, while Alex Neil's Millwall, who had been chasing a third win in four Championship matches, remain 12th and will reflect on a frustrating afternoon at The Den.
Millwall probe down the left but fail to make dominance count
Both sides began cautiously, but it was Millwall who soon established control, especially down their left flank where Zak Sturge and Aidomo Emakhu combined to good effect. Wrexham were content to sit in and contain, though they almost fashioned an early opening of their own when home goalkeeper Steven Benda had to be alert to prevent Ryan Hardie latching onto Ryan Longman's long pass in behind.
