Kian McMahon-Brown scored within eight minutes of his home debut and Kevin Berkoe added a second just before half-time as Shrewsbury Town beat Northampton Town 2-0 in League Two on Saturday.
The win ended a run of two straight defeats without a goal for Gavin Cowan's side, who had lost 3-0 at Rochdale and 2-0 at Fleetwood Town after a 1-0 home win over Salford City on 29 August. It also came within a day of the identity of the club's prospective new American owners being revealed. Northampton, who had beaten Newport County 1-0 the weekend before, are still waiting for their first away win of the season.
McMahon-Brown Makes Early Breakthrough
McMahon-Brown needed only seven minutes to find the target, rifling a strike past Zach Jeacock in the Northampton goal. Josh Davison nearly made it two soon afterwards, flashing a long-range effort wide of the post.
