Mateta's looping header and Collins' own goal steer Palace past Brentford
Crystal Palace ended a three-match winless league run with a controlled 2-0 victory over in-form Brentford at Selhurst Park. A deft header from Jean-Philippe Mateta on the half-hour and a second-half own goal by Nathan Collins proved enough as Oliver Glasner’s side built on their midweek Carabao Cup triumph at Anfield.
Brentford, who came in buoyed by a league win over Liverpool, never truly recovered once the hosts went ahead. Palace might have stretched the scoreline when Ismaïla Sarr struck the inside of the post, while Dean Henderson preserved his first home clean sheet since the goalless draw with promoted Sunderland on 13 September, with a late save from Reiss Nelson.
