Mansfield Town began their League One season with a 2-1 win over Doncaster Rovers at One Call Stadium. Rhys Oates put the home side ahead in the 25th minute, Doncaster's Jack Senior levelled three minutes into the second half, and Louis Reed restored Mansfield's lead in the 73rd. Mansfield finished with 54% of the possession and 16 attempts on goal to Doncaster's nine, with four shots on target apiece.
Doncaster's Seán Grehan was booked in the 55th minute and withdrawn for Hakeeb Adelakun in the 78th; Mansfield's Frazer Blake-Tracy and Liam Thompson were both cautioned late on, in the 81st and 85th minutes. Doncaster made a half-time change, Brandon Hanlan replacing Isaac Hutchinson, before Harry Clifton came on for Robbie Gotts in the 64th and Jordan Thomas for George Broadbent in the 89th. Mansfield used five substitutes, including both goalscorers: Oates made way for George Maris in the 89th minute and Reed for Elliott Hewitt in the 90th.
It was the opening league fixture of the season for both clubs.
