Mansfield sign Stockport defender Dodgson on season-long loan

Mansfield Town have completed the signing of defender Owen Dodgson on a season-long loan from fellow League One club Stockport County.

The 23-year-old made 25 appearances in all competitions for Stockport last season, as they finished as beaten finalists in the League One play-off final at Wembley. Dodgson can play as a left-back, left wing-back or in a defensive midfield role, giving Nigel Clough's side cover in multiple positions.

He becomes Clough's fifth signing of the summer window at Field Mill, joining the former Barnsley pair David McGoldrick and Jon Russell, along with Michael Smith and Liam Thompson, as Mansfield build on a 2025-26 campaign that ended in 10th place, the club's highest league finish since 1987.

"Mansfield are a club which has progressed year-upon-year in recent seasons and after speaking with the gaffer it was a really straight forward decision to join until the end of the season," Dodgson told Mansfield's website.
