Adilson Malanda scored in the 87th minute to earn Middlesbrough a 2-2 draw at Birmingham City, pouncing on a handling error from goalkeeper James Beadle when the hosts seemed to have the game won.
Max Arfsten had given Boro the lead in the 44th minute. Liam Millar levelled in the 54th, and Riley McGree turned the ball into his own net in the 58th to put Birmingham in front. The hosts appeared to be heading for their first home win of the season until Malanda struck at St Andrew's.
The point leaves Middlesbrough on 15 points from their first eight league games, level with West Ham, while Birmingham are on 11.
