The 21-year-old summer signing from Lincoln scored for the third game running and the fourth time in three outings, continuing his impressive stand-in role while United States forward Josh Sargent recovers from concussion.
This tight scoreline only partly reflected Norwich's control of the contest. Clement's side dominated a toothless Charlton for long spells, hit the woodwork through Makama and forced several important saves from Thomas Kaminski, yet had to settle for a single goal that also delivered their first clean sheet since August. The result brought Norwich a third successive home win after a bruising run of seven straight defeats at Carrow Road, while Charlton's sixth loss in eight league games left them marooned in 17th place and, in Curtis Fleming's words, far from the 'best version' of themselves.

Norwich took control almost from kick-off, with Makama heavily involved in an assertive opening spell. Within six minutes the powerful striker had chested a long ball down for Kenny McLean to test Kaminski from the edge of the area, a warning of the understanding between the pair. Soon after, Makama turned his marker inside the box and whipped a low drive against the upright on 14 minutes, underlining why he was described as the most impressive player on the field.
