Luton Town beat Stockport County 2-0 at Kenilworth Road in a League One matchday-four fixture that was goalless at half-time. Nahki Wells put the hosts ahead in the 49th minute, and substitute Callum Marshall doubled the lead in the 75th, turning in a Jamie Donley assist.
Stockport had the better of the ball, holding 62.2% of possession to Luton's 37.8%, and had more shots at goal: ten to Luton's seven. But only one of those ten was on target, against five of Luton's seven; the hosts made their chances count where Stockport did not.
Daniel Gore was booked for a foul in the 55th minute and was withdrawn in the 64th, the same change that brought on Marshall in place of Wells. Stockport's Oliver Norwood picked up the match's other caution, in the 67th minute.
The result lifts Luton to seventh in the League One table on seven points from four games: two wins, a draw and a defeat. Stockport, beaten for the second time in four matchdays, drop to ninth on six points.
