Romelu Lukaku has joined Fenerbahce from Napoli. The fee and length of the Belgium striker's contract have not been disclosed.
The 33-year-old was Napoli's top scorer as they won the Serie A title in 2024-25, but made only seven appearances this season, hampered by a hamstring problem and a hip flexor injury as well as a dispute with the club over missed training. His father, Roger, died in September.
Lukaku's father played for the Turkish Super Lig club Genclerbirligi in the 1996-97 season, when Lukaku lived in the country as a young child. "It's an honour and a privilege to be joining your club," Lukaku said in a video message to Fenerbahce's fans. "I am fit, 100%, ready to go. It is an emotional moment after many years to be going back to Turkey where I lived as a young kid, where I discovered the professional world as a toddler with my dad."
Lukaku has won the Belgian championship with Anderlecht, a Fifa Club World Cup with Chelsea, and the Scudetto with both Inter Milan and Napoli. He scored three goals at this summer's World Cup, despite the injury problems that limited him domestically.
