Barry went off injured five minutes later, in the 15th minute, replaced by Kieran Morrison. Jamal Lowe put Sheffield Wednesday ahead from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute, a lead they held to full time.
Callum Slattery was booked for Sheffield Wednesday in the 43rd minute, Wycombe's Ewan Henderson in the 78th and Barry Bannan in the 83rd; no player was sent off. Wycombe lost Daniel Harvie to injury in the 40th minute, replaced by Dan Casey, and made a triple substitution in the 77th as they chased an equaliser that did not come.
The result moves Sheffield Wednesday up to second in the League One table with nine points from four matches, three wins and a defeat. Wycombe remain without a win, 24th on two points from two draws and two defeats.
