Liverpool have been drawn at home to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup's third round, a tie that will bring Andrew Robertson back to Anfield for the first time since his free transfer to Spurs in the summer.
Liverpool enter the competition at this stage alongside eight other Premier League clubs involved in Europe this season: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Manchester United and Sunderland.
Robertson left Liverpool as a free agent this summer after nine years at the club, having joined from Hull City in 2017. He made 378 appearances for Liverpool, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as the League Cup twice. He signed for Tottenham on 1 July, completing a move that was first agreed in January, before it collapsed because Kostas Tsimikas could not be recalled early from his loan at Roma.
Elsewhere in the draw, Manchester United will host Brighton, holders Manchester City are at home to Norwich, and Fleetwood, the competition's last remaining fourth-tier entrant, will host Sheffield United. Chelsea's tie against Leeds depends on Thursday's second-round meeting with Luton, when Fulham and AFC Wimbledon also play to decide West Ham's opponents.
