Colchester boosted their League Two play-off hopes with a 2-1 home win over Fleetwood, with first-half goals from Kyreece Lisbie and Micah Mbick proving enough to see off a spirited late rally from the visitors.
The result extended the U's unbeaten run to six matches, while Fleetwood were left to rue a slow start that left them with too much to do after the break.
Set-Piece and Composure Build a First-Half Lead
Colchester took a 14th-minute lead when Lisbie headed in Jack Payne's free-kick for his 10th goal of the season. The U's then doubled their advantage in the 38th minute through Mbick, who brilliantly controlled Samson Tovide's cross before planting a low shot past goalkeeper Jay Lynch and into the corner of the net.
