Lincoln City sign Manchester United forward Wheatley on loan

Lincoln City have signed the Manchester United forward Ethan Wheatley on a season-long loan for the 2026-27 season.

The 20-year-old has made three substitute appearances in the Premier League for United this season, along with one in the Carabao Cup. He had an earlier loan at Walsall, then spent last season split between two clubs, scoring three times in 22 League One outings during the first half at Northampton Town before finishing the campaign at Bradford City.

Lincoln are playing Championship football for the first time since 1961, having won last season's League One title. They have lost their first two league games back at that level, though they got past Derby County in the Carabao Cup's opening round.

"I played against Lincoln last season and didn't really enjoy it, so I'm glad to be part of the team now," Wheatley told the club website. "I've had some loans over the past 18 months. I started in League Two, then last season League One so am looking forward to stepping up to the Championship."
