Barnsley beat Leyton Orient 3-1 at the BetWright Stadium in League One's third matchday, Makenzie Kirk opening the scoring in the 14th minute before Cameron McGeehan doubled Barnsley's lead from the penalty spot in the 63rd and Reyes Cleary made it three in the 75th. Nicholas Oyekunle, on as a substitute for Orient in the 68th minute, pulled a goal back in the 84th, but Barnsley held on for the win.

The contest produced eight yellow cards, four for each side. Jonathan Bland, Tyrese Noslin, Sam Gale and McGeehan were booked for Barnsley; Isaac Hayden, Tony Springett, Theo Archibald and Fin Stevens for Orient. No player was sent off.

The win lifts Barnsley to 9th in the League One table on four points from three games, a win, a draw and a defeat so far this season. Orient, beaten for the second time in three matches, drop to 17th on three points with a goal difference of minus one.
