Sheffield Wednesday began their League One season with a 2-1 win away at Leyton Orient, coming from behind at the BetWright Stadium on the division's opening weekend. Callum Slattery put the visitors ahead in the 18th minute, Joseph Olowu levelled for Orient in the 25th, and Jamal Lowe scored the winner from the penalty spot in the 65th.
Wednesday had less of the ball, 48.1% possession to Orient's 51.9%, but were the sharper side in front of goal: 14 attempts to Orient's 10, five on target to three, and seven corners to five. Four players were booked, all yellow cards and no dismissals: Sil Swinkels (30th minute) and Gabriel Otegbayo (40th) for Wednesday, Isaac Hayden (56th) and Zech Obiero (62nd) for Orient. Wednesday's Tyler Onyango was forced off injured in the 13th minute, replaced by Jarvis Thornton.
The result means Leyton Orient have not picked up a point from their opening League One fixture, while Sheffield Wednesday started life in the division with a win on the road.
