Leno's last-minute wonder save earns Fulham a point and stalls Brentford in goalless west London derby

· Match Report

Brentford missed the chance to climb into the Premier League's top six as Fulham held them to a forgettable goalless draw in a west London derby that nearly burst to life only in stoppage time, when Bernd Leno produced a last-minute wonder save to preserve a point for the visitors at Gtech Community Stadium.

A win would have lifted Keith Andrews' side level on points with sixth-placed Chelsea and within touching distance of the European places, but the Bees were wasteful in front of goal across a game of few real chances. The result was Brentford's fifth consecutive league draw - their first such run since 1957 - while Fulham, who had won the last three meetings between the sides, ended their derby misery without registering a single shot on target.

Thiago grazes the frame as chances go begging

It was Brentford who had the better openings throughout. Igor Thiago, still only one goal behind Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race, almost broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Mathias Jensen crossed and the striker's header grazed a post. Moments later Thiago turned Calvin Bassey in the penalty area, only for Joachim Andersen to slide in and block his shot.
