Leicester City delivered a blistering first-half performance to beat Derby County 3-1 in the clubs' first league meeting for nearly 12 years, easing the pressure on under-fire Foxes boss Marti Cifuentes and climbing above their East Midlands rivals in the Championship table.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Oliver Skipp and Jordan James struck inside the opening 31 minutes to put Leicester in complete control at Pride Park, and although Sondre Langas gave Derby hope with a second-half header, the visitors held firm to claim only their fourth league win in 15 matches dating back to August.
Foxes Fly Out of the Blocks
With Cifuentes needing a response after back-to-back defeats by Southampton and Sheffield United, Leicester started with the sort of incisive football their manager has been demanding. In the eighth minute Abdul Fatawu surged forward from inside his own half and fed Jordan James, whose clever, delayed pass released De Cordova-Reid. From around 12 yards the forward stayed composed, side-footing clinically past Jacob Widell Zetterstrom to cap a move that showcased patience, timing and precision.
