Leicester City's fall into League One was confirmed on a tense and emotionally draining night at the King Power Stadium, where a 2-2 draw with Hull City ended the Foxes' fading hopes of survival. Hull, meanwhile, took a point from a game full of momentum shifts but still finished the evening outside the play-off places on goal difference.
The match swung sharply from one side to the other. Liam Millar punished a costly error from Asmir Begovic to give Hull the lead, only for Leicester to turn the contest around in the second half through Jordan James' penalty and Luke Thomas' close-range volley. Yet the hosts could not hold on, as Oli McBurnie struck back for Hull before both teams traded late chances in a frantic finish.
A costly mistake hands Hull the initiative
With Leicester knowing only a victory would keep alive any chance of avoiding the drop, the first half carried a strained and subdued mood. Rather than unsettling promotion-chasing Hull with a fast start, the home side created their own problems in the 17th minute when Begovic, trying to play out from the back, passed straight to Millar. The winger kept his composure and fired home to put the Tigers in front.
