Leeds United reached their first FA Cup semi-final since 1987 with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over West Ham at the London Stadium, edging a pulsating last-eight tie 4-2 on spot-kicks after a 2-2 draw across 120 minutes.
Daniel Farke's side had appeared home and hosed when 2-0 up as the clock ticked towards 90 minutes, only for West Ham to score twice during 11 minutes of stoppage time and drag the game into extra time. After more chaos and two disallowed home goals, Lucas Perri's shootout saves from Jarrod Bowen and Pablo sent Leeds through to a Wembley semi-final against Chelsea.
Tanaka and Calvert-Lewin appear to seal it
Leeds threatened inside the opening 90 seconds, when Noah Okafor was denied by Alphonse Areola, and dominated a frantic first half. Soungoutou Magassa and Freddie Potts toiled in West Ham's midfield against Anton Stach, Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka, and it was Tanaka who started and finished the move that gave the visitors a deserved 26th-minute lead, turning past Magassa and spooning a shot that bounced in off the underside of the crossbar via a deflection off Axel Disasi.
