Fulham needed penalties to avoid a Carabao Cup shock at Adams Park, edging past League One Wycombe 5-4 in a shoot-out after a 1-1 draw to reach the quarter-finals.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte was the unlikely hero in only his third appearance for the club, saving three Wycombe penalties before defender Issa Diop drilled in the decisive spot-kick in sudden death.
Familiar face strikes early
Wycombe were in front inside four minutes through a familiar face. Cauley Woodrow, who left Fulham in 2019 after eight years at the club, had time to line up a strike and rasped a firm 20-yard drive past Lecomte at his near post.
