Portsmouth boosted their Championship survival hopes with a gritty 1-1 draw at an in-form Norwich City side, snatching a late equaliser after spending much of the evening chasing the game. Norwich had looked on course to extend their excellent home run when Pelle Mattsson put them ahead midway through the first half.
Instead, the midfielder's night took a painful turn in the 84th minute when he turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Regan Poole after Andre Dozzell's free-kick had been flicked on by Colby Bishop. The result gave Portsmouth a deserved point after taking only one from their previous six games, while Norwich's sequence of seven straight home wins came to an end.
Norwich Grow Into the Game
The contest began in scrappy fashion, but Norwich gradually imposed themselves and started to carry the greater threat. Mathias Kvistgaarden came close to producing a memorable opener when he met Paris Maghoma's header back into the danger area with an audacious scissor kick that was deflected just wide.
