Late Kamwa strike sends Newport to safety and Barrow down

· Match Report

Newport County dramatically secured their League Two survival as two late goals earned a 2-1 win at bottom side Barrow and condemned the home team to relegation on the final day of the season.

With 15 minutes left, the Welsh club's 13-year stay in the Football League looked like it was coming to an end as they trailed and results elsewhere meant Christian Fuchs' side were in the drop zone. Substitute Tom Davies and forward Bobby Kamwa changed everything to spark wild celebrations among the estimated 1,000 Newport fans who had made the long journey to Cumbria.

Barrow's Bright Start at Holker Street

The Cumbrians, managed by ex-Newport player Sam Foley, started superbly and led in the ninth minute when Charlie McCann volleyed in after Rekeem Harper's cross from the right was only half-cleared. Knowing they needed to win big to have any chance of staying up, Barrow's players ran straight to the net to collect the ball and hurry back to the halfway line.
