Callum Lang scored his first two goals for Preston North End as Paul Heckingbottom's side won the Lancashire derby 2-1 against Blackburn Rovers at Deepdale, taking their first points of the season at the fifth attempt.
Lang struck in the eighth and 26th minutes, and although Stanley Mills turned a cross into his own net in the 50th minute to give Blackburn a way back, Preston held on. Blackburn finished with 67 per cent of the possession and 12 shots to Preston's eight, but Daniel Iversen made five saves to keep the lead intact.
Lang Ends His Wait
Lang had failed to score in his previous 11 appearances for Preston since his February move from Portsmouth, but Heckingbottom started him ahead of Jusef Erabi and was rewarded early. The forward showed predatory instincts at the back post to direct Delano Burgzorg's shot home in the eighth minute, then headed in Jordan Thompson's whipped free-kick from close range in the 26th.
