Kvistgaarden Strike Ends Norwich Losing Run in Hillsborough Stalemate

ยท Match Report

Mathias Kvistgaarden stepped off the bench to earn Norwich City a much-needed point in a 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday, ending the Canaries' sequence of six successive Championship defeats in a breathless bottom-of-the-table contest at Hillsborough.

Owls captain Barry Bannan had lit up a big night at Hillsborough with a stunning early goal, and Henrik Pedersen's side were on top for long spells, but a 61st-minute leveller from Kvistgaarden, created by Josh Sargent, ensured the spoils were shared after a second half packed with chances at both ends. Norwich's point lifted Liam Manning's team above Sheffield United, while the two Steel City clubs now occupy the bottom two places in the table.

Bannan's Thunderbolt After Early Norwich Let-Off

Norwich almost seized the perfect start inside the opening minute when a mistake in the Wednesday defence presented Sargent with a clear run on goal. The United States international, without a goal in his previous nine games, could only prod his effort wide as Ethan Horvath rushed from his line.
