Kevin McDonald scored a dramatic late winner as Exeter City earned their first away success of the season with a 1-0 League One victory at Lincoln City. The strike, deep into second-half stoppage time, settled a contest in which the hosts had created the better openings but never found a way through.
The Grecians had failed to secure a point on the road all campaign until this trip to Sincil Bank, where they also inflicted Lincoln's first home defeat of the season. The Imps were left to reflect on a string of chances that went unconverted.
Lincoln Spurn the Better Openings
Lincoln carried the greater threat but could not break the Grecians down. Striker James Collins saw a first-half header cleared off the line by Josh Magennis, while shortly after the restart Freddie Draper came close to his first goal since August when he rattled the post with a strike from outside the box.
