Watford produced a stunning late comeback to beat Derby County 3-2 at Pride Park, overturning a two-goal deficit to claim their first Championship away victory of the season and bring the Rams' five-match winning run to an abrupt halt.
Defenders Dion Sanderson and Sondre Langas scored their first goals for Derby to put John Eustace's side 2-0 up despite the early loss of in-form striker Carlton Morris to a knee injury, but Luca Kjerrumgaard's strike and an Edo Kayembe double, including an 88th-minute winner, turned the match on its head. The result extended Watford's unbeaten run to four games, lifted them above Derby in the table and moved them to within two points of the play-off places.
Morris And Baah Injuries Disrupt A Cagey Start
Both teams found promising positions in a cagey opening without creating clear chances, but the rhythm of the contest was quickly shaped by injuries. Derby's top scorer Carlton Morris, who had hit six goals in his previous four games and accounted for half of their league total, stayed down in the penalty area after an innocuous off-the-ball collision with Kevin Keben and required lengthy treatment for what appeared to be a knee problem; before he was replaced, the hosts also saw strong appeals for a penalty waved away when the ball seemed to strike defender Marc Bola on the hand.
