Crawley were given a sobering re-introduction to League Two as Grimsby ran out resounding 3-0 victors at Blundell Park. A debut penalty strike from Jaze Kabia, a header from Cameron McJannet and a piledriver from Evan Khouri gave the Mariners a convincing opening-day victory.
Grimsby were ahead inside ten minutes and never looked back, taking control of the contest before half-time and then putting the result beyond doubt early in the second period.
A Debutant's Dream Start
The opener arrived just nine minutes in when Kieran Green was fouled by Crawley goalkeeper Harvey Davies inside the box. Kabia stepped up on debut and converted from the spot for the perfect start to his Grimsby career.
