Notts County sealed promotion to League One for the first time in 11 years with a 3-0 victory over Salford City in the League Two play-off final at a sweltering Wembley, where temperatures peaked at 37C in front of a crowd of 30,851.
Goals from Alassana Jatta and Lucas Ness in the first half set the Magpies on their way before Jodi Jones, the architect of both, sealed the result with 20 minutes remaining. For Salford, watched on by co-owners David Beckham and Gary Neville, an eighth season trying to escape League Two awaits in August.

Both sides had been in contention for automatic promotion heading into the final day before being forced to settle for the play-offs. Notts came through their semi-final by beating Chesterfield 1-0 over two legs, while Salford edged Grimsby 4-3 on aggregate in extra-time.
