Millwall and Sheffield United played out an absorbing 1-1 draw as Mihailo Ivanovic's quick strike cancelled out Andre Brooks' opener for the visitors. Results elsewhere meant that being held at home for the first time in four games was not too costly for the play-off-chasing Lions, who sit five points clear of seventh-placed Derby, while the Blades were left to rue a series of missed chances, most notably two glaring opportunities squandered by Callum O'Hare.
From Michael Cooper's early save to deny Macauley Langstaff to Barry Bannan's debut volley late on, both teams had periods when they threatened to take all three points in what was described as a good, open game. Sheffield United enjoyed the stronger spells either side of the interval, particularly around the midway point of the second half, but determined Millwall defending and wasteful finishing from the visitors ensured the contest ended with honours even.
Fast Start and a Chance at Either End
The first big chance of the afternoon fell to Millwall in the ninth minute and underlined the hosts' attacking intent. Ivanovic found space and showed awareness to square the ball across the box for strike partner Macauley Langstaff, who looked well placed to score. Cooper, however, stood tall in the Sheffield United goal, spreading himself to make an excellent save and prevent the Lions from capitalising on their promising opening.
