Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following an incident at a nightclub in Soho, central London. The charge, brought on 31 July, relates to an alleged assault on Wardour Street on 6 December 2025. The England striker will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday 24 September.
Toney was a surprise selection in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for this summer's World Cup. He came on as a late substitute in the semi-final, which Argentina won 2-1, then started the 6-4 win over France in the third-place play-off, his only start of the tournament.
The court date falls two days before England face World Cup winners Spain in a Nations League match at Wembley.
Toney, 30, joined Al-Ahli from Brentford for £40m in August 2024, scoring 72 goals in 141 appearances for the west London club, including 36 across three Premier League seasons, after helping them win promotion from the Championship. He has also played for Northampton Town, Newcastle United and Peterborough United. Al-Ahli's Saudi Pro League season begins on 13 August.
