Alexander Isak scored the only goal as Liverpool beat Bournemouth 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium, giving Andoni Iraola a winning return to the club he left in the summer. Isak finished in the 56th minute after Cody Gakpo drove down the right, and Liverpool then held on to record a third successive Premier League clean sheet.
It was far from a fluent afternoon. Liverpool had 12 shots to Bournemouth's nine, three on target to two, and 54% of the possession, but Bournemouth made the stronger start and Liverpool needed one clear sight of goal to take the points.
The result lifts Liverpool to sixth in the table on nine points. Bournemouth have three from five games under Marco Rose and sit 17th, still waiting for a first league win.
