Sindre Egeli put Ipswich ahead in the 61st minute. Leicester levelled five minutes later through Olabade Aluko, before Núñez restored Ipswich's lead in the 70th minute and added a second in the 90th to complete the win, one of his two goals a strike from inside his own half.

Five players were booked, all for fouls and none leading to a dismissal: Leicester's Aluko (39th minute) and Louis Page (69th), and Ipswich's Cameron Humphreys (48th), Jack Clarke (53rd) and Cédric Kipré (64th). Aluko, booked before he scored, was replaced through injury in the 73rd minute.

Leicester had the greater share of possession, 57% to 43%, and more shots overall, 22 to 15, with both sides managing nine efforts on target, but could not turn territory into more than a single goal.
