Swansea City fought back to claim a fully deserved point at The Valley as Adam Idah's sharp second-half strike cancelled out Charlie Kelman's first Charlton Athletic goal in a 1-1 draw. Kelman, a summer signing still searching for a breakthrough in the Championship, fired the hosts ahead seconds after the restart, only for Idah to respond with his best moment in a Swansea shirt around the hour mark.
The result extends Charlton's unbeaten run to four matches and means Nathan Jones' team have now lost only once in their past 23 home fixtures in all competitions. Yet they dropped out of the Championship play-off places, slipping to eighth, while Swansea remain down in 16th and were left to reflect on missed chances and a second half in which they largely controlled proceedings at one of the league's toughest away venues.
Scrappy opening and an early flashpoint
The tone of a scrappy first half was set inside the opening minute. Jisung Eom burst through the middle and looked to be racing clear when Macaulay Gillesphey slid in with a last-ditch challenge. From a Swansea perspective it appeared a critical intervention that might easily have brought a red card, but referee David Webb ruled there had been no foul, to the visitors' clear frustration.
