Hull City shattered Birmingham City's 18-month unbeaten league run at St Andrew's with a 3-2 victory that combined high drama, disciplinary flashpoints and a post-match war of words between the managers.
An early Jack Robinson own goal and Regan Slater's header, either side of Jay Stansfield's first strike, had the visitors 2-1 up at the break. Robinson's second-half dismissal, Joe Gelhardt's stoppage-time breakaway and Stansfield's late penalty then completed a breathless night that lifted Hull to tenth and left Birmingham seventeenth.
Tigers strike first as Birmingham's fortress is breached
Hull, looking to build on their previous victory, struck the first blow after just 11 minutes. Starting up front, Kyle Joseph latched on to an Oli McBurnie through ball and drove into the area, his effort diverting into the net off defender Jack Robinson for an own goal that stunned a home crowd accustomed to seeing their side avoid defeat on their own turf.
