Huddersfield Town opened their League One campaign with a 3-0 home win over AFC Wimbledon at Accu Stadium, playing over an hour with ten men. Derensili Sanches Fernandes put the hosts two goals clear inside a quarter of an hour, scoring in the 3rd minute and again in the 15th, before defender Bali Mumba was sent off for a serious foul in the 28th. Substitute Bojan Radulovic, on in the 62nd minute, added a third in the 77th.

Wimbledon had the better of the numbers with the extra man: 60.6% possession and 11 attempts on goal to Huddersfield's 10, but only one of those was on target, against three from the home side. Myles Hippolyte was booked for time-wasting in the 14th minute, Fernandes for the same offence in the 48th, and Marcus Browne for a foul in the 73rd.
