Huddersfield Town have signed the midfielder Archie Collins on a two-year deal, ending his search for a new club after leaving Peterborough as a free agent this summer.
Collins, 26, left Peterborough when his contract expired, along with the defenders Tom Lees and Jacob Mendy, as Luke Williams revamped his squad following an 18th-place finish in League One. Huddersfield are his third permanent club, after seven seasons at Exeter City and three at Peterborough, where he made 320 league appearances for the two clubs and missed only nine of a possible 138 league games.
Collins told the club website that Huddersfield was his "best fit" after talking to a number of clubs. "Entering the summer as a free agent was a conscious choice at this stage of my career," he said. "Having enjoyed an incredible time on and off the pitch at Peterborough United, I was ready to push myself again with a new challenge."
"Being without a club has given me the benefit of being able to control my destiny and pick the side that felt like the best fit for me," Collins added.
